Russia Starts Supplying Oil To Refineries In Georgia

There is only one refinery in this country.

Russia delivered oil to Georgia for the first time in October at the new 1.2 million-ton-a-year Kulevi refinery, Reuters reported on LSEG data and industry sources.

According to LSEG data and sources, the tanker Kayseri loaded about 105,300 tons of Siberian Light crude from Russneft's resource in Novorossiysk in early October and delivered the cargo to the offshore Kulevi Oil Terminal for processing at the Kulevi refinery owned by privately owned Black Sea Petroleum.

Georgia's only refinery with the first stage capacity of 1.2 million tons of oil per year will be put into operation in October 2025, the sources said.

The advantage of the Kulevi refinery is its geographical location - proximity to raw materials and markets, as well as to major transport hubs - the Kulevi Marine Terminal, which can receive and load both rail and sea transport, the ports of Batumi and Poti, Black Sea Petroleum said on its website.
