The ship was carrying drugs.

The US has struck a ship linked to a terrorist organization involved in drug trafficking near the coast of Venezuela, US leader Donald Trump wrote in his Truth Social.

The corresponding order was given by Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, the US president specified.

"Intelligence confirmed that the vessel was carrying drugs, was linked to illegal narco-terrorist networks and was on a known DTO route," Trump's post said.

Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO) is any organization recognized as a terrorist organization under US law or regulation.

He said the strike was carried out in international waters, as a result of which "six male narco-terrorists on board were destroyed." As the president clarified, the U.S. forces suffered no casualties in carrying out the order.
