U.S. Senate Introduces Resolution To Transfer $10 Billion Of Frozen Russian Assets To Ukraine Each Month

The bill is authored by Republican Senator John Kennedy.

A new resolution on Russian assets frozen in the world has been introduced in the United States Senate. The resolution calls on the executive branch and leaders of the G7 countries and the European Union to confiscate the sovereign assets of the aggressor country Russia under the jurisdiction of the G7 members.

The confiscated funds are proposed to be paid to Ukraine in tranches of 10 billion dollars each month "until the full exhaustion" of the frozen assets of the Russian Federation. This is stated in the draft of Senate Resolution #421.

The author of the new resolution is Republican Senator John Kennedy. Also co-sponsoring are Republican Lindsey Graham, and two Democrats, Sheldon Whitehouse and Richard Blumenthal.

The resolution was referred to the Foreign Relations Committee immediately after being introduced in the Senate. But analysts at the Congressional Research Service have not yet done an analysis of the document, so it is not yet in the public domain.
