Belarusian Defence Ministry Suspects Pokemon Go Game In Collecting Intelligence Information About Airbase In Machulishchy

Also, the Ministry of Defence has revealed how they justify themselves before the Russian Z-channels.

The mobile Pokemon Go game could have been used to collect intelligence about Belarusian aviation, said the head of the main department of ideological work of the Defence Ministry, Aliaksandr Ivanou, on air of STV. He also said that he had contacted Russian Z-channels because of their claims to Aliaksandr Lukashenka about withdrawing troops from the border, reports ‘Zerkalo.’

The security in Belarus and the activities of intelligence agencies were discussed in the ‘On the Merits’ talk show. The topic of what objects in Belarus are now the main target for spies was raised. It became an opportunity for Ivanou to remind about ‘anime and the events taking place in the country’.

‘Let's take the Pokemon Go game, right? About 10 years ago it was very popular there. What was the point of it? All teenagers, children were on some app - you turn on the camera, augmented reality, and you look for some rare pokemons, collect them in a collection,‘ reminded Ivanou.

‘Where were the most of Pokemons at that time, do you think? On the territory of the 50th air base, where the runway is, where there's a bunch of military aircraft equipment, that's where there were the most of the Pokemons. Isn't that intelligence information?’ he reasoned.

Ivanou also spoke out on the topic of Z-public pages' claims that the AFU had allegedly launched the attack on Kursk region of the Russian Federation because of Aliaksandr Lukashenka, who withdrew troops from the border with Ukraine. He believes that this was used by Ukraine for its own purposes.

‘The [Ukrainian] information-psychological operations centres and units immediately started to use this situation for their own purposes. They immediately tried to drive a nail, a wedge, say, into the relations between Belarus and Russia, emphasising: aha, as soon as the troops were withdrawn from the border, immediately, look, the released reserves of the AFU went to Kursk region. This does not correspond to reality,’ said the Defence Ministry spokesman.

In addition, he is offended by Russian pro-war bloggers and considers them victims of Ukrainian information special operations.

‘But the most offensive thing is that even our partners, let's say, in the Russian Federation, they also take this information campaign-operation at face value and they begin doing it all on Z-channels, as I call them. You get in touch, explain: guys, we are working in a common circuit, what are you doing? Oh, yeah? Well, all right! We looked at it a little differently. Well, congratulations, you have become victims of an information and psychological operation,’ Ivanou said.
