The Russian Foreign Ministry claims that Ukrainian security services allegedly prepared an assassination attempt on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Defence Minister Andrei Belousov on July 28.

This was reported by Kremlin propaganda resources, citing a statement by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.

According to him, Putin and Belousov were going to be killed during a military parade in St Petersburg on the occasion of the day of the Russian Navy.

At the same time, Ryabkov did not say how all this could have been realised.

The Russians also insist that Putin and Belousov were saved by Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, to whom they complained about the alleged plans of the Ukrainian side.

"A few days earlier, Russian Defence Ministry chief Andrei Belousov had called Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and urged his US counterpart to persuade Kyiv to abandon its plans," the report said.
