Because of the defeat of the Wagnerites.
The transitional government of the Republic of Mali said it broke off diplomatic relations with Ukraine. Bamako accused Kyiv of helping the Tuareg rebels, who defeated Russian mercenaries of the Wagner PMC, calling it "support for international terrorism".
The corresponding diplomatic note on Sunday, August 4, was published on X by the Speaker of the Government of Mali Abdoulaye Maïga.
The document notes that the actions of the Ukrainian authorities allegedly "violate the sovereignty of Mali, go beyond foreign intervention, are condemnable in themselves and are a clear aggression".
In a statement, the Malian government “strongly condemns this Ukrainian agression and condemns this hostility of the Ukrainian authorities, which contradicts the position of neutrality held by Mali, which has always called for a peaceful settlement of the crisis in the confrontation of the Russian Federation with Ukraine.”
Also in the government statement there are typical Russian narratives about the allegedly "neo-Nazi nature" of the Ukrainian authorities.
"Moreover, the transitional government of the Republic of Mali fully adheres to the diagnosis established by the Russian Federation, which, however, for many years warned the world about the neo-Nazi and villainous nature of the Ukrainian government, which today is an ally of international terrorism and is far from striving for peace and stability of the Ukrainian people," the document reads.
