Belarusians Increasingly Seek International Protection In Poland

The Polish Border Service has published statistics.
In the first half of 2024, the Polish Border Service accepted 1,863 applications from Belarusians for international protection, according to the agency's statistics. Compared to the same period last year, the number of applicants for protection has increased by 17.7%, MOST writes.
Only citizens of Ukraine seek protection more often than Belarusians — 2,453 cases in six months.
More than half of Belarusians apply at the Border Service office in Warsaw.
Poland rarely refuses international protection to Belarusians. Over the past six months, negative decisions have been made on 50 cases, while 1,400 applications have been granted.
