CNN: North Korean Troops Redeployed To Ukraine

They are being kept separate from Russian units.

Technical advisers to the North Korean military have arrived in occupied Mariupol, while other troops from the DPRK have been spotted in the eastern Kharkiv region, a source in the Ukrainian security forces told CNN.

According to the channel's source, the purpose of the North Korean military's visit to Mariupol remains unclear, while the servicemen were wearing Russian uniforms. The DPRK troops in Mariupol are being kept separate from the Russian units they are supporting, the source noted.

While other foreign fighters in the Russian army are usually integrated into local units, the North Korean troops are kept separate — they have separate apartments, food, and films.

North Korean troops have also been spotted in eastern Ukraine, a representative of the Ukrainian military command in the region said.

“I can confirm that according to radio intercepts, North Korean units have been spotted in the Kharkiv region,” said Yevhen Romanov, press secretary of the military unit association in Kharkiv. Another Ukrainian military source confirmed this information.

“I see that they are dividing into units, strengthening their combat formations and accumulating small forces on the front line. They are waiting for the weather to worsen, because this is the most suitable time for the enemy to begin assault operations,” said Nazariy Kishak, commander of the joint unit of the 153rd separate mechanized brigade.
