Expert: AFU Are Preparing Powerful Counterattack

Russia is panicking and closing ‘defence fractures’.

The active offensive operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Bakhmut direction make it possible to destroy Russian troops, and also provide an opportunity to obtain a potential springboard for counteroffensive operations, said Oleksandr Musienko, the head of the Center for Military and Legal Studies.

“It will also make it possible to take equipped and fortified positions and destroy the enemy. Not to mention the fact that the enemy is depleting its potential, and this opens up opportunities for preparing and conducting a large-scale counteroffensive,” he said in an interview with Glavred.

According to him, the occupiers will be forced to withdraw their troops from different areas to strengthen their Bakhmut positions.

“They have already partially transferred their troops from the occupied Luhansk region. Then the forces in the rear, which were in the so-called reserve in the occupied territories and should have been involved in the defensive, will also be involved there. The Russians could not quickly find reserves in order to protect the Belgorod region - everyone is involved. And given the losses and exhaustion of the Russian troops, they will pull them together and try to transfer from other directions,” the expert noted.

He also explained that another headache of the Russian Federation is the preparation of a counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“We should not forget that now the Russians are in a panic trying to find out and understand where Ukraine can strike from. So one way or another, they move along the frontline, so reinforcements will be removed and transferred,” Musienko added.
