Zhlobin Serviceman Confined To Brig For Participating In Protests

At the time of the protests he was not yet in the army.

A soldier from Zhlobin Aliaksandr Strokau has been confined to the brig for two months for his participation in the protests of 2020, reports the human rights centre "Viasna". This decision was made by the court of Zhlobin district (judge - Sviatlana Rubakhova). The guy was found guilty of "organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them". At the time of the protests he was not yet in the army. Strokau was tried when he had already joined the army.

Aliaksandr Strokau studied at Zhlobin State Metallurgical College. A peaceful protest against falsification of the results of the presidential election was held in Zhlobin during the night of August 9-10, 2020. In the following years, several dozen people were convicted for their participation in it, including the soldier of the internal troops (he participated in the protests before he was conscripted).
