The economic damage is more than 10 billion dollars.

On Monday morning, February 6, there was a powerful earthquake on the border of Turkey and Syria, killing at least 200 people. The death toll is steadily rising.

The 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the Turkish province of Gaziantep at a depth of 24.1 kilometers. It is one of the strongest earthquakes in the region in the last 100 years.

Several countries in the region, including Syria and Lebanon, felt the earthquake.

Experts at Risklayer, an initiative that assesses the possible impact of man-made disasters, believe the number of victims of the quake could number about 11,400 (range: 3,200 to 25,900). Economic losses are estimated at more than $10 billion.
