They may be subject to mandatory control.

Last week, an amendment to the so-called sanctions law came into force in Poland, which introduces the institution of mandatory control for companies located in Poland and subject to sanctions. It is reported by Prawo.pl.

The task of mandatory control will be the sale of the company into other hands (employees will have priority) or its withdrawal into state ownership with payment of compensation to the owner. The state will be able to appoint a manager who will manage the operation of the enterprise, and prepare it for sale or expropriation. The latter will be applied in exceptional cases.

This will not be compulsory for all companies under sanctions: it will be up to the Minister of Economy to decide whether to introduce mandatory control in a particular company or not.

This refers to the companies that fell under sanctions in connection with the situation in Belarus, in connection with the participation of Russia and Belarus in the aggression against Ukraine, in connection with actions that threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.

Which Russian and Belarusian companies in Poland are threatened by this?

As zerkalo.io points out, the Belarusian fuel distributor Beloil Polska is on the sanctions list — before the imposition of sanctions, it belonged in equal shares to RUE PO Belorusneft and CJSC Belarusian Oil Company, since March the latter became the owner of 100% of the shares. Beloil Polska was listed for the repression in Belorusneft against workers.
