Kastus Kalinouski Regiment Makes Statement

The fighters of the regiment stopped the breakthrough of the enemy tank column near Lysychansk.

On June 26, the Volat Battalion of the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment was involved in holding back the occupiers' tank breakthrough in the Lysychansk region, according to the regiment’s press service.

A small group of our fighters began an unequal battle with superior enemy forces. After several hours of fighting, the occupying forces were pushed back, the equipment was knocked out with hand-held anti-tank weapons, and among our guys, only one was slightly wounded.

The fighters of the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment began to lose ground only with the second wave of significant forces, including tanks. And even then, our guys did not surrender and pointed Ukrainian artillery at the enemy's manpower and vehicles. Unfortunately, at a certain point, communication with our soldiers had been lost...

We can say with confidence that thanks to personal heroism and self-sacrifice, our Belarusian guys were able to stop the offensive of the tank column, thereby making it possible for the main forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to safely retreat in that direction.

In the early days, there was no understanding of where some of our fighters were, and we hoped for the awareness of the media because at such moments it is very important to remain silent so that the Belarusian volunteers, in case of captivity, have a chance to be exchanged, like other fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and return home. For this reason, the regiment paused so as not to harm our guys.

Now we break the silence in order to announce with pain in our hearts that, while fulfilling its combat duty, the commander of the Volat Battalion of the Kalinovsky Regiment with the call sign Brest died heroically.

From the first days of the war, he defended Ukraine from Russian aggression and was at the founding dawn of the Kalinouski Regiment. We knew him as a courageous, determined and selfless man who was willing to do anything for each of his fighters. Brest had exclusive authority among the soldiers of the regiment. In addition, he was a devoted son of the Belarusian land and believed in the future of a free Belarus. This is a very significant and painful loss for all of us.

On behalf of all the soldiers and the command of the Kalinovsky regiment, we express condolences to the families, friends and relatives of Brest and support for the families of our missing guys.

Unfortunately, during that operation, several more of our soldiers went missing.

Search activities are underway. The Kalinouski regiment keeps in touch with the relatives and friends of our missing guys. We are doing our best, including all means and effort, to return our guys back and nothing will stop us. We are really struggling for each of our guys and believe that they are alive.

Only Jan Durbeiko, call sign 'Trombly', is in captivity, according to actual information. Our soldiers received the order to tell everything that the enemy wants to hear, in the case of falling into captivity and to save their life and health.

We especially draw your attention: our fighters should be treated officially as prisoners of war since they are contract soldiers and not mercenaries.

We draw your attention to the fact that at the moment many fakes are spreading in the virtual space, which do not have any facts behind them. Our regiment is carrying out actions to clarify and verify all the information received. We will cover the details of the incident in the next official press releases after additional information becomes available and will be verified.

Long live Belarus!
