Zinaida Mikhniuk Tried For "Insulting Lukashenka"

The trial of the activist of the REP trade union is taking place right in the detention center.

On May 18th , the Leninski District Court of Brest started hearings of the case of Zinaida Mikhniuk, activist of the REP trade union, who has been jailed for political reasons. The woman is accused of "insulting Lukashenka", which is qualified under part 1 of article 368 of the Criminal Code.

Judge Andrei Hrushko is considering the case, reports Radio Svaboda.

Mikhniuk was detained on March 25 after searches at her home and the office of the organization. The woman was taken to pre-trial detention facility No. 7 in Brest.

According to information, sent by one of the detainees, Mikhniuk is accused on the basis of the materials of wiretapping, which was carried out in her place as she is an activist of the REP trade union.

The other day the human rights activists found out that Mikhniuk's trial will take place right in the detention center, at the place of her imprisonment.
