Former Political Prisoner Dzmitry Kulakou Serves In Kalinouski Battalion

The Belarusian has escaped from an open-type correctional facility and become a volunteer.

Journalist Evgenia Dolgaya has posted on Facebook a photo of a guy in a military uniform. This is Dzmitry Kulakou, a former Belarusian political prisoner. He was sentenced to 3.5 years of serving time in an open-type correctional facility, but last summer he escaped from it to Lithuania. And when the war in Ukraine started, he joined the Kastus Kalinouski battalion.

Dzmitry, who has two minor children, was sentenced under the article on violence or threat of violence against a law enforcement officer and under the article on insulting a representative of the authorities.

He was sent to Shklou to serve his sentence, and there he swallowed a piece of metal spoon in protest against not being allowed to see his wife.
