Lukashists Couldn't Stand the Food "Embargo"

A number of goods were excluded from the restrictive list.

Exclusions from the list of fruits and vegetables, banned for importation into Belarus, are provided by the decision of the Council of Ministers № 245 of April 22.

In December 2021, the government published a list of goods that are prohibited for importation and sale in Belarus on January 1. The December document contained a list of goods from the EU Member States, USA, Canada, Norway, Albania, Iceland, Northern Macedonia, United Kingdom, Montenegro and Switzerland. The list included a various food products (except fish) and raw materials.

But it seems the authorities overestimated their strength in imports and overreacted. And now the list of exceptions includes apples, pears, lettuce, eggplant, fruit of capsicum or genus pimenta, fresh or chilled, pumpkins, zucchinis and other vegetables of the family of pumpkins (Cucurbita spp.), fresh or chilled, other vegetables, fresh or chilled.

Decree No. 245 comes into force on April 27.
