Boryslav Bereza: Suicide Is The Best Option For Lukashenka
BORYSLAV BEREZA

Next year will mark a turning point.

Ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE Boryslav Bereza summed up the outgoing year together with the Charter97.org website.

– What are the main events for Ukraine you can note?

– The most important event that happened, unfortunately, has a negative polarity. This is Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It radically changed the life of Ukrainians, changed the course of events, processes and the attitude of the citizens towards Ukraine. Therefore, event number one is, of course, the invasion. Event number two is the defence and counterattack of Ukraine. And event number three is the supply of Western weapons, thanks to which we are actually now opposing Russia. Oddly enough, all three events are connected with the same thing - the war.

– Who are the main heroes and anti-heroes of this year for you?

– Of course, the people of Ukraine are the first heroes of the year for me, because the Armed Forces of Ukraine are a reflection of our people. Due to the fact that the people defend the country, Ukraine still exists. This is the first point.

The second hero for me is the head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny. Thanks to his genius the strategy of defence and counterattacks were developed, and the results that we see were achieved. There are no more Russians near Kyiv, Kherson has been returned to Ukraine, the Russian army was forced back from the Kharkiv and Donetsk axes. The Luhansk axis was liberated. We see a turning point in the war, it has not yet ended and will continue, but Zaluzhny, using non-standard strategy and tactics, achieves maximum both defence and attack results.

Our Western allies say that he is the only general in the world who has such experience in successful diverse operations in our time. We were lucky with him, so he is the number two hero after the people of Ukraine for me.

Well, hero number three is, of course, the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Armed Forces of Ukraine consist of many units, it includes not only army units: the Territorial Defence, the Security Service of Ukraine, border guards, the National Guard and volunteer units. We see a fairly large number of people who are "under the hood" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are united by only one thing - the confrontation with Russia and the liberation of Ukraine from the invaders. And they do it perfectly, so they are heroes.

Putin, of course, is the most important anti-hero of this year. There is no doubt - he is a perfect scum. The anti-hero number two is Lukashenka, such a scummy lackey and “microputin”. Anti-hero number three for me is Orban, who actually continues to play along with Putin and sabotage all the European processes connected with Ukraine. We see that he is trying to sabotage not only the European processes but also the integration of Ukraine into NATO or the holding of any joint activities in which Ukraine could be more active and integrated into the Alliance system. Here are the three villains, the three anti-heroes of this year.

– You recently wrote about Tatarstan, where signs of separatism began to appear. Will such trends continue in Russia? Who could be the next?

– There are a lot of such subjects: the Republic of Sokha, Tatarstan, Dagestan, under certain circumstances, if people can resist Kadyrov's private army, then Ichkeria. We can see that the Caucasus will blaze, we can see all this. But Tatarstan is a very interesting sign. The fact is that this is not the first time. In the early 90s, there was already such a story, but then Shaimiev was actually bought for oil. Thanks to this, his family is now in the top 3 richest families of Russia.

Most likely, the Kremlin will try to buy the local elites, but the elites see Moscow's weakness and will try to play an independent game. They want to be lords themselves and control their own lives instead of being vassals of the Kremlin.

There are many interesting processes going on in Tatarstan, but the processes are hidden. Everything that appears in the public sphere is deliberately deleted to let people know that it is complicated. Most likely, there are negotiations, but we must not forget that such games usually end in great changes. Approximately the same thing began in the Soviet Union, when easy games with this low-level independence and sovereignties within the USSR led to disintegration. Therefore, sooner or later we may see something similar in Russia, it will most likely start from Tatarstan, but we'll see further.

We must not forget about internal conflicts, because we see what internal inter-ethnic conflicts are now taking place between Russians and representatives of the Caucasian republics, representatives of Muslim peoples. The execution of the mobilized soldiers in the Belgorod region took place on ethnic grounds. And this is a very good thing because everything that weakens Russia benefits the end of the war. Therefore, it is better to welcome any internal conflicts and hope that there will be more of them. The more conflicts this vicious empire has, the faster it will sink into oblivion.

– What forecast for the next year would you give for Ukraine, Belarus and the Russian Federation?

– Next year will mark a turning point. I believe that there is a possibility that the war will end next year if Putin is removed from power or if there are some greater changes within Russia.

In this case, the end of the war will be beneficial to everyone, because it will lead to the lifting of part of the sanctions against Russia, and will enable the local elites to earn big money again. Let's be honest: they are mercantile, they consider serving the state through serving their own incomes, so this is a very important point for them. And this option will be possible for them if Putin is removed.

If Putin is not removed, we can draw an image of a “spherical horse in a vacuum”. Then we assume that international partners, together with Ukraine, will put pressure on Russia and Putin to force him to withdraw troops from Ukraine and Crimea. But, to be honest, I don't believe it much. I don't even believe it at all.

Therefore, we will be forcing out the Russians by military-diplomatic means, and getting more and more new weapons. Sooner or later we will get the Tomahawks, and modern armors, and everything else. The main thing is that as few Ukrainians as possible should pay with their lives for this expectation, because, in fact, we are paying a terrible price. We will have a turning point next year. I would really like to hope to win next year, but only time will tell if this will happen or not.

As for Belarus, I can only say one thing: the fall of the Putin regime will obviously cause the fall of the Lukashenka regime because Lukashenka can't exist on his own. He is resting on the bayonets of his power system - money and cheap gas that Putin gives him. As soon as this ends, a disaster begins for him. In addition, no one has forgotten that he helped Putin to kill Ukrainians, that Lukashenka helped and was involved in the invasion of Ukraine on February 24, and that he became the one who provided airfields for aircraft to take off, which then bombed and shelled Ukraine with missiles. He actually gave Putin both weapons and ammunition. Therefore, a separate fate awaits Lukashenka. Suicide is an ideal option for him, otherwise, he will rot somewhere for a long and tedious time.

If he manages to escape as a last resort, he will be hiding somewhere in China or North Korea. This is also an option. But in any case, all processes should be initiated by the Belarusians themselves.

If the Belarusians do not want to raise their heads, then Lukashenka will continue to rule them. And after Lukashenka, Kolenka [Mikalai - Lukashenka’s son Ed.] will take power, and this tradition of kingship will not end until the Belarusians realize that they have to fight for their freedom.

Everyone predicted no more than “five days against Russia” for Ukraine but the “capturing Kyiv in three days” has been lasting for ten months already. We’ve proved to everyone that it is possible to stand up for yourself, that you can defeat even a very strong opponent. Belarusians can get their well-deserved freedom, can get the right to live freely in their country, can get the right to speak their own language, can get the right not to be afraid to express their opinion about the authorities and can live like civilized Europeans. To do this, they need to change the government and choose a decent and worthy one. Everything depends on Belarusians.
