Political Prisoner Artsiom Kandratsiyeu Released

Political prisoner Artsiom Kandratsiyeu was freed. Orsha resident was convicted under Art. 188 of the Criminal Code (Slander), according to the Viasna Human Rights Center.

The prosecution argued that Kandratsiyeu posted a photo of the head of the Orsha Inspectorate for Juvenile Affairs, Vishneuski, and information that the investigation considered offensive and false.

On February 25, the court of the Orsha district sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months of personal restraint in an open-type institution.

Artsiom was released on November 22.
