Political Scientist About Lukashenka's Actions: How Much More Crawling Into Bushes?

Who is the occupier? Where is the aggression from the West?

The following phrase of Lukashenka drew attention to itself: “Well, where were you, a fighter for sovereignty and independence, in 2020, when we were about to be occupied.” This is a very important moment in the rhetoric of the Belarusian leader, which has already become almost the cornerstone of Belarusian propaganda, which in turn tries to prove the legitimacy of Lukashenka's sixth term, writes Russian political scientist Andrei Suzdaltsev on his Telegram channel.

We are talking about Lukashenka's loss of the 2020 presidential election and the falsification of the results of the popular vote. It was after the announcement of the falsified results by the CEC headed by Yarmoshyna that three months of street protests began, which frightened the Belarusian leadership so much.

Here is a curious moment. If in the first six months Lukashenka and Belarusian propaganda furiously argued that 81% of the votes for the current Belarusian government were genuine and true, then by the spring of 2021, after the VI All-Belarusian Assembly, the topic of elections began to somehow blur. For example, “pet experts” appear on Belarusian TV, they talk about street actions, but not about the shuffled voting results.

Since the autumn of 2021, the events of August 2020 in the words of Lukashenka and Belarusian propagandists are already appearing as some kind of invasion from the West, occupation, and aggression.

Who is the occupier? Where is the aggression from the West? As they say in such cases: “Give addresses, safe houses, names, come on, where's all that?”

Well, where are the names of these NATO generals who were supposed to “iron” Belarus with tanks in August 2020, where are these dozens, if not hundreds of external agents, where are the facts of distributing money on marches, where are these names, agents of Western countries?

Well, how much more twisting and crawling into “bushes” …? As Lukashenka says: “Facts on the table!”
