Lukashenka Smuggles Contraband Cigarettes in Freight Train Wagons

Another batch of Belarusian cigarettes was found in Latvia.

A freight train en route to Latvia from Belarus was inspected on September 10 at the customs control point at the Daugavpils freight station, lsm.lv reports.

During the check, hidden cigarettes were found in two carriages where wood materials were transported. 50 packs of cigarettes were hidden among the boards - a total of 4 thousand packs of NZ cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps.

On the same day, border guards at the customs control point in Indra found hidden cigarettes in a cargo of wood chips in the carriage of a train arriving from Belarus. 4,800 packs of undeclared Premier, NZ, and Queen cigarettes were seized.

If these cigarettes got to the territory of Latvia, the amount of unpaid taxes would be about 29 thousand euros.

The materials of the case were transferred to the Tax and Customs Police for making a decision on the initiation of criminal proceedings.
