“The hockey players did not have the courage, the courage to stand up for their people, for their own fans. You could have been for Lukashenka, for power, but, excuse me, when some people beat up your fans on the streets, threw them into prisons, and continue to do so, did you not know about this? Were you scared to say that this is not the right thing to do? Why were you silent when real chaos was happening on the streets? Many guys from the national team play in other countries, in normal leagues. And is there such lawlessness going on in these countries, like in Belarus? People go out to peaceful protests, and real war is being waged against them. You, hockey players, remained silent and thought that the attitude of the fans towards you would not change? If you thought so, then you are, to put it mildly, stupid. Therefore, today's attitude of Belarusians to the national team is exactly what the players deserve. 100 percent! This is karma, and I believe in it. It will overtake everyone in this life, everyone will answer for their words and deeds. Everyone will get what he has earned.

As a result, this karma gathered the national team, brought it to Bratislava, and showed that not everything is decided by sport in this life, that hockey is not the most important thing. You have to value other, more important things. Maybe the players will think about what they are doing or not doing. I'm not talking about Canadians who got passports. They don't really care what happens in our country. I mean Belarusians, who, when their people are being destroyed, are simply silent,” Rummo said.
