Antony Blinken released a harsh statement on the situation in Tokyo.

"The Lukashenka regime sought to commit another act of transnational repression: attempting to force Olympian Krystsyna Tsimanouskaya to leave simply for exercising free speech," U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken wrote on his Twitter page on Tuesday, August 3.

According to him, such actions violate the Olympic spirit, are an affront to basic rights and cannot be tolerated.

Earlier, Maria Adebahr, a representative of the German Foreign Ministry, commenting on the situation around Tsimanouskaya, called on the Belarusian authorities "to respect basic democratic rights, including freedom of media, press and freedom of speech. "This applies to every citizen of Belarus and, of course, to athletes and sportswomen," Adebahr emphasized addressing journalists on 2 August.

Tsimanouskaya's coercion to leave the Olympics

On August 1, 24-year-old athlete Krystsyna Tsimanouskaya, who represented Belarus at the XXXII Olympic Games in Tokyo, released a video. She stated that Belarusian authorities were forcing her to leave Japan and return home due to the criticism she had expressed towards the Belarusian sport functionaries.

On August 2, it became known that Poland issued a humanitarian visa to the athlete, which she received at the country's embassy in Tokyo.
