The state of the economy has been deplorable for a long time.

Victoria Vasilevich, Strategy Analytical Center, responded to the Prime Minister's optimism about the state of the Belarusian economy, reports Salidarnasts.

- I think Roman Golovchenko is a painter. His "steady growth" is a box of gouache. He dips his brush in it and then has to paint with it on the window, behind which absolute blackness and some rainbow prospects appear," said Victoria Vasilevich in response to the recent statement of Prime Minister that "the economy of Belarus was on the way to sustainable growth for the first quarter".

The expert believes the situation in the Belarusian economy is far from any growth and provides some arguments.

- Our GDP per capita has increased in absolute terms, but not in foreign currency terms.

With regard to wage arrears in the agricultural sector, we face a disaster. We know about the fact that wages are paid in manure, and the debt is growing that way.

Let me give you an example of MAZ. The plant's turnover equals 3 billion rubles, and its profit amounted to a bit less than 150 thousand rubles! In fact, it's a loss incurred by the enterprise which, generally speaking, manufactures goods that are in demand all over the world.

Today we can speak of the destruction of science, which does not publish any reports; there are no even the smallest scientific discoveries, while the Academy of Sciences remains.

Our budget is increasingly deficient, and this deficit is growing. Our total national debt is increasing because it is calculated in Belarusian rubles, while the exchange rate is rising. All our citizens, including babies and the elderly, must pay off the very loans for the rest of their lives," says the analyst.

Victoria Vasilevich draws a curious conclusion regarding the premier's optimism:

- I believe that when Golovchenko mentions growth, he means his salary, the growth of his family members' income, the increase and expansion of opportunities that he and those he contacts during the working day have.

The general state of the economy has been deplorable for a long time. In a state of crisis, those who must think about the country and its citizens do not care at all.
