The authorities are constantly listing the fact that they have managed to “preserve the factories” as part of their achievements. But have these same factories retained the number of jobs they used to have? Radio Svaboda tells about it.

MTZ

In 2015, at the Minsk Tractor Plant, according to the securities portal (portal.gov.by), 17 891 people worked, in 2020 - 15 753. In 5 years, the number of employees decreased by more than 2 thousand people or 12% of all employees.

MAZ

The Minsk Automobile Plant lost 670 employees in 2019 alone. In just 5 years, the number of employees decreased from 17,535 to 15,599 people. Almost 2 thousand people are less than 5 years old, or minus 11% of employees.

Hrodna Azot

In 2015, 7,749 people worked at Hrodna Azot, at the beginning of 2020 - 7,475, thus, the number of employees over 5 years has decreased by more than 200 people or 3.5%. In 2020, at least 30 more people were fired from the plant for political reasons - for joining the strike.

Homselmash

For 5 years at Homselmash, which showed a net loss last year, only 28 people were cut. In 2015, 8038 people worked at the plant, at the beginning of 2020 - 8010. the number of employees decreased by 0.3%.

BMZ

In 2015, 11,183 people worked at Zhlobin BMZ, and 10,725 at the beginning of 2020. For 5 years, the number of employees decreased by almost 500 people or by 4%. In 2019 alone, the number of employees at BMZ decreased by 277 people.

MZKT

The number of MZKT employees has decreased by more than a thousand people over 5 years. In 2015, the plant employed 5281 people, in 2020 - 4234. The number of employees decreased by 20%. In 2019 alone, the number of employees decreased by 307.

Naftan

In 2015, 10,730 people worked at the flagship of the Belarusian oil refinery - Naftan, in 5 years - less by 700 people, or by 6.5%.

Minus 60 thousand in 4 years

In total, 936.8 thousand people worked in the industry of Belarus in 2015, in 2019 - 875.6 thousand. That is, for 4 years in the industry there are 60 thousand fewer people.
