Sambo wrestler Stsiapan Papou recalled the night spent at the TDF in Akrestsin street eight months ago.

"The TDF in Akrestsin street. Today, it is eight months since the terrible night I spent in that place. I spent all night there, saw and heard a lot of terrible things I would have never believed before.

It was then, when the whole country realized what horrors there were outside and behind the walls of that horrible place on August 9-12, that the order was given to release! All night long, people in dirty torn clothes with frightened eyes were coming out of there. Family, friends, and volunteers were waiting for them. A lot of people didn't know if their children, wives, husbands, or parents were there. For all that time people had been given incorrect information. And the screams of horror from behind the torture chambers and the ambulances constantly driving out were maddening. Horror, fear, tears, a feeling of complete injustice and helplessness.

After that night my life has completely changed. I stood up against violence, cruelty and injustice. Every normal person understands that. Eight months have passed, but I remember everything like it was yesterday. Everyone remembers, no one will forget!

And when people try to tell me now that this is the norm, that I am a traitor, that I get involved in politics, that I set other people up... I see that there are those who use this situation to their advantage, making people like me guilty, bad and wrong, for the sake of positions, salaries and bonuses.

I will say one thing: that night I saw unprecedented solidarity and unity. Belarusians are the most patient people. This crazy period will soon be gone. In the age of high technology, you can see everything. The time of gloom and unknowing will pass without a trace. History will remember and label everyone. Now it is the time when you can see who is who.
