Flowers by the Subway Turned Into a Demonstration against the Authorities

There is already little in common between the people and the regime.

Hello child.

The other day I tried to get some cash. And I, you know, managed it only on the fourth attempt. Either I was unlucky with ATMs or Latushka's initiative about an ATM and an exchanger is already working so convincingly.

Still, the anniversary of the terrorist attack in the subway now has a completely different meaning than a year or five years ago. And in the earlier, much more prosperous times for the authorities, many people did not believe in the official version of the explosion. And now, it seems, there are already very few of those who believe. Over the past nine months, the authorities have shown too convincingly that they have no moral brakes and that they will stop at nothing to ensure their well-being. They now so generously distribute the titles of terrorists that you can't help but wonder: maybe they have already done this before? Well, because otherwise, where would such a habit come from?

There is little in common between the people and the current government, but it turns out that the anniversary of the explosion in the metro divides them even more. And when there is some misunderstanding between the people and the authorities on this matter, flowers near the metro, like it or not, turn not only into an expression of grief for the dead but also a demonstration against the authorities.

Someone says that thousands came to the metro station yesterday, someone even spoke about tens of thousands. I don't know how to count like that. People have been coming all day. How do you count them? I can not. Therefore, I will use the indefinite numeral "many."

So, it seems to me that yesterday was the test that March 25 and 27 could not have become. Not because people did not come, but because then we were not allowed to see how many people came. And yesterday the authorities had the courage not to disperse anyone, and we were able to see that “a lot” of people came. After already 35,000 detainees and hundreds of criminal cases. Because everyone who came yesterday to the metro with flowers could not help but keep in mind the prospect of getting at least 15 days of arrest for it. People fall for less, what can we say about flowers. Flowers, in the current circumstances, are no longer even ideological sabotage but practically an act of extremism.

I’m even a little surprised that the authorities yesterday had enough endurance and courage not to turn on the water cannon. That is, of course, firing at those gathered at the scene of the explosion is tantamount to admitting the official version is untenable. But on the other hand: there are many people with flowers in one place ... And if we extrapolate the inexorable statistics of the audience, it turns out that from 80 to 97 percent of those present have some dislike for the current government.

The other day, the minister, still of foreign affairs, finally threatened the West with really convincing retaliatory sanctions. Because we understand that all threats to restrict imports, trade flows, close embassies are all talk in favor of the poor. Well, just to keep the conversation going. But to exterminate civil society in the country, if there are more sanctions, yes. The authorities will do it with their pleasure. Previously, it turns out that they were concerned about the prosperity of civil society. It's just that you and I are too blinkered to notice. But now, that's it. You're playing pranks. Since new sanctions mean no civil society for you.

And you know what? I’ll tell you a seditious thing (almost without sarcasm at all), on the part of the authorities, this is actually logical, consistent, and even correct in some ways. Because the main enemy of the authorities is not the West with its sanctions, not Merkel or Biden. Not even the great and terrible Tsikhanouskaya. The main enemy of the authorities is the Belarusian civil society. Those who bring flowers, unauthorized by the trade union and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, are the real enemies.

P.S Also, of course, the falcons, who threw a rat on the steps of the government house on the day Babaryka and Tsapkala were denied registration.
