Former President of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus: We Are Not Able to Create Our Own Vaccine against COVID-19

This was stated by the ex-president of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, chief researcher at B. I. Stepanov Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Aliaksandr Vaitovich.

“We have never created our own vaccine but produced what someone had created. We do not have personnel who would deal with these issues, although there are scientists who understand all this. But the development of technology is completely different, we do not have experience and technological personnel in technology,” Vaitovich said.

In addition, billions of dollars are needed to develop a vaccine, which Belarus does not have, he added. “In our situation, such statements will remain only statements. In the near future, we can not count on creating our own vaccine," the ex-president of the NASB said.

On March 26, receiving a report from Minister of Health Dzmitry Pinevich at the Palace of Independence, Aliaksandr Lukashenka said that the production of the domestic "best vaccine" against COVID-19 is a matter of honor for the Ministry of Health and the National Academy of Sciences.
