Ihar Bantser

Ihar Bantser has been on a "dry hunger strike" for 12 days.

Once again, now in public, I want to urge you to recognize Ihar Bantser as a political prisoner.

Ihar has been on a "dry hunger strike" for the 12th day - he does not eat or drink anything. When declaring a hunger strike, he stated that his case was politically motivated. He is alive, although he can die at any moment. Doctors say that a person can survive up to 10 days without food and water. Ihar's wife says that a lawyer visited him yesterday. He has lost a lot of weight - he is now skin and bones. The executioners transferred him to another cell, to solitary confinement. The only thing he asked for was detergents.

The main thing to know about this case.

Ihar was imprisoned for an art performance. He danced in front of a police car in shorts. The policeman himself, who was watching this, has no complaints against him. Nevertheless, Bantser has been kept in custody for 4.5 months already, kept in terrible conditions, several times thrown into the punishment cell. He faces up to 3 years in prison. Before this detention, he had already served 18 days for participating in protest rallies.

The next hearing in his case was scheduled for 2:30 pm on March 18, which will be the 16th day of Bantser's hunger strike, if he does not stop.

This is a political case, human rights activists, please wake up !!!

For reference:

Ihar joined the Young Front in 1997, worked for the Pahonya newspaper, collaborated with the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, was involved in the work of the Union of Poles in Belarus, was the editor-in-chief of Magazyn Polski and Głos znad Niemna, repeatedly held performances in a sign of protest against the actions of the authorities. He doesn't drink, plays muay thai, and plays in a punk band. He has three children.

In the photo: Ihar Bantser on September 15, 2020, in front of the Hrodna court. He came to appeal against the decision with a pink flag. He said that by doing so he wanted to show that the Belarusian court is a farce. He was not allowed to go to court, then he staged a performance in front of the building, and AMAP took him away.
