Katsia Andreyeva And Dasha Chultsova Will Be Released Along With All Political Prisoners

Natallia Radzina, editor-in-chief of Charter97.org, has commented on Facebook on the verdict of the Lukashenka court to Belsat journalists Katsiaryna Andreyeva (Bakhvalava) and Darja Chultsova:

- Why are we so surprised? If people in Belarus get 4-5 years in jail for nothing, why can't the journalists be sentenced to two years in colony? Do we have a special status and a charter of immunity from the lawlessness?

I remember a colleague saying a few years ago: "Well, Radzina, you were imprisoned after the elections and got such an article (organization of mass riots, up to 15 years), because you got involved in politics. If you were a 'real', neutral journalist, no one would have touched you. I asked my colleague at the time to wait a little longer: they will come for the others and no amount of neutrality will help.

I have always been surprised by the hope that the dictatorship has some kind of common sense - "No, well, that would be too much, they will never do that". It is difficult for people who rely on reason to realize that this system is insane.

Katsia Andreyeva And Dasha Chultsova are real, caring journalists. I am sure that, along with all the political prisoners, they will be released. How soon - depends only on us.
