Border guards have shared information about exceptional situations during duty.

Lithuanian border guards recalled how migrants who tried to get from Belarus to the EU through Lithuania behaved at the very beginning of the crisis and talked about their strange taste habits.

The Lithuanian border guard said that he did not even think that such a number of migrants could and will go to Lithuania. According to him, it was most difficult to work at the beginning of the migration crisis because “they had to explain, write, fill out a lot of documentation, and inspecting migrants' belongings took a lot of time because they took 2-3 backpacks, they came with their families,” reports Delfi.lt.

Saulius also spoke about exceptional situations: for example, in one of the groups, a person arrived in a wheelchair. Another young man came to Lithuania with a severe leg injury, as he claimed that he once climbed into a mine in his homeland.

Then some illegal migrants were placed behind the protective wall of Poškonys (a village in Lithuania). There could be up to 180 newcomers at the same time. According to the border guards, the migrants living here did not cause any problems - there were no conflicts with local residents, no attempts to escape.

However, the border guards were surprised at their eating habits.

“They bought chips, cola, and an energy drinks. After that, they cried at night, complained, asked to call an ambulance, because they had too much cola and chips,”the official said.

He also talked about a strange dish prepared by migrants. They bought many cans of mayonnaise, kilograms of sugar, poured everything into boiling water and then ate the resulting porridge.

According to Saulius, the border guards no longer need to monitor migrants, since the last 18 people were transferred to a permanent camp a few weeks ago.
