Gold And Foreign Currency Reserves Of Belarus Decreased Again

Gold And Foreign Currency Reserves Of Belarus Decreased Again

What is the reason?

As of October 1st the gold and foreign currency reserves of Belarus amounted to $8 billion 459.9 million, reports the National Bank. This is by $36.8 million, or 0.4%, less than a month earlier. We remind that on August and July the reserves increased, and on June they decreased.

The regulator specifies that the reduction of the international reserve assets in September was caused mainly by the scheduled repayment of foreign and domestic liabilities in foreign currency of the government in the amount of $240 million and the decrease of the monetary gold value. The National Bank adds that the inflow of foreign currency to the budget, as well as purchase of foreign currency by the regulator during the trading on the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange has contributed to maintaining the level of foreign reserves in September.
