The Ministry of Education, Science and Sports offers a choice of two cities.

Lithuania could host the matches in Vilnius or Kaunas. Such a proposal was made by the Lithuanian Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, Delfi writes.

Among the arguments in favor of Lithuania are the close proximity to Riga and the availability of hockey arenas.

"It will be difficult for the Latvians alone, since they only have the Riga arena. They would need another one, which is expensive and technically difficult," - Deputy Minister Linas Obcarskas said.

Although, the World Hockey Championship is usually held in a country, whose national team plays in the top division, while the Lithuanians are not among the elite.

On January 18, International Ice Hockey Federation deprived Belarus of the right to host the World Championship, scheduled to be held from May 21 to June 6.

Now the options to hold the "Belarusian" part of the matches in Slovakia, Denmark or all the matches in Latvia are being considered.
