Great Britain Did Not Recognize Lukashenka's Legitimacy

New elections must be held in Belarus.

British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab criticized Lukashenka's secret inauguration. He called the rigged elections "a fraud on the Belarusian people".

The minister wrote about it on his Twitter.

He noted that after his inauguration Lukashenka's reputation had suffered even more.

"Lukashenka’s secret inauguration in Minsk today brings him further into disrepute. His rigged election was a fraud on the Belarusian people," - Raab wrote.

In addition, Minister for European Neighbourhood and the Americas Wendy Morton criticized the inauguration.

"The UK does not recognize the results of the Belarusian elections, and it is a pity that Lukashenka was secretly inaugurated today. The Belarusian people deserve more: full transparency, the release of detainees, an end to violence and free and fair elections," - Morton wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations reacted to Lukashenka's mysterious inauguration by calling for his resignation.

We remind that the European Union and the opposition of Belarus did not recognize Lukashenka as president after his inauguration. The same statements were made by Poland, Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic, Lithuania and Slovakia.

Ukraine also does not recognize that Lukashenka is a legitimate president of Belarus.
