Poland Initiates Extraordinary EU Summit On Belarus

Warsaw is calling for solidarity with Belarusians.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has addressed Head of the European Council Charles Michel and Head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, said spokesman for the Polish government, Piotr Müller.

The head of the Polish government has initiated an extraordinary EU summit on Belarus.

In turn, the statement posted on the website of the Prime Minister's Office emphasizes that after the presidential election in Belarus on Sunday, the authorities used force against their citizens, who demanded changes in the country.

“We must solidarly support Belarusians in their striving for freedom. Hence the initiative of the head of the Polish government for the European Union to study this issue,” the message says.
