Tatstsiana Seviarynets: Lukashenka Has the Last Chance to Board the Plane

Otherwise, the court and the Hague will follow.

The meeting of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya gathered a huge amount of people on July 19 in Minsk. Every time motorists make noise when Sasha the Cockroach drives by. Salihorsk miners almost openly declare a mass strike of workers.

The whole country has awakened. The coordinator of the Belarusian Christian Democracy in Vitsebsk, trustee of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Tatstsiana Seviarynets, stated this in an interview with Charter97.org:

- Today I can say for sure: I feel joy and pride for our people. I have been fighting for many years to awaken the consciousness, dignity and pride of the Belarusian people and finally, I witness the result.

The main thing is that the changes have been initiated at a deeper level. This process is unstoppable.

- Let's look at specific examples of how these changes take place in the same Vitsebsk.

- Firstly, the number of people increased. They already say in public: "Lukashenka, go away. We are sick and tired of you". You won't believe it, they appear everywhere: on social networks, and even just on the streets. I've never seen anything like this before during my political activity.

Every event attracts more and more people. Those who took part in pickets to collect signatures set up meetings to support each other. Passers-by join us! It drastically differs from the situation in December-January, when the actions against the "integration" with Russia were held. Yes, there was also a rise of enthusiasm, but now this energy shows the process is on and no one can stop it.

For 26 years I have been convincing people to take to the streets. Now I see there is almost no one left to convince. The fear is almost gone; a different attitude to the events takes the floor; it seems as if people have been "cleaned" from within.

There's a specific example for you: I ride a bike and since this summer I have it repaired for free. They say, "Thank you for what your activity." Bankers have been treating me like a precious vase for months now. They say, "We know everyone by sight, especially you." This is the attitude of ordinary people who have never been associated with activists before. It contrasts with what observed six months ago. People want to do something, be useful. I feel their great support.

- What is needed for such sentiments to transform into real changes in the country?

- I am a realist. We need a little bit more people to join those who already step up. If the same Salihorsk miners who are already preparing for the strike, or Mikashevich Granite Plant, or machine-tool and engineering plants join us, it will be a complete and final victory.

I'd like to address workers: give up your fear of losing a job and doubts, rise and negotiate. Build up a chain reaction. I see some sparkle is missing. Decide that you will not listen to fake figures presented on TV, but go on strike. It should be a common decision.

We know everyone has been cursing power at enterprises for a long time. They spit and wait for the "Swan Lake" show. They even rejoice at rumours about Lukashenka's hypertensive crisis. Let it be so, but first of all, we should rely on ourselves, not an accident. You build the future for your children.

- Apart from a mass strike of workers, what other methods can help?

- First, it's a large number of legal propaganda pickets. When people learned about Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's picket in Minsk, they rushed there to devour energy.

Sometimes I feel that I run dry of energy. As soon as I read the news, listen to these songs on the flash mobs of solidarity, such as "Walls Will Crumble" - I burst with energy.

There should be the Square, the workers' strike, mass rallies during the campaign. Look, people want it. Our great youth will not accept the same old song.

You know, as an experienced teacher, I can say that these young people are amazing. On July 14 it was the youth who joined the fight for the candidates. We were all afraid that they did not care. However, they proved to be kind and great. For me, this is the main discovery of this summer.

- What would you say about the reaction of the authorities to recent events? At the meeting with Tsikhanouskaya, they tried to kill the sound; the next day Lukashenka began to change the leaders in the KGB, the National Bank and the diplomatic corps. What may stand behind these actions?

- This person has illegally seized power. Now he's scared. The government serves opportunities, and fear adds fuel. He's a coward and an evil man. He's already become a grandfather and he should have become wiser. But, unfortunately, it passed him by. He remained an offended boy with a twisted way of thinking.

Sometimes I felt sorry for him, but now I don't. Let God forgive me, but I do not wish Lukashenka anything good. Let him disappear from our land without a trace. I can't even force myself to turn on the TV now.

He has recently said at the Slavic Bazaar in Vitsebsk: "Even if I'm not the president..." That means he cares. It means he's scared.

He must resign, take his whole gang, board a golden Boeing and fly away as far as possible. It's available if he wants to avoid public outrage and the Hague. Look how he barely moved at the Slavic Bazaar! Save the rest pieces of your health, it's self-destruction. This is your last chance.

He won't be able to live here. He'll be tried here and then imprisoned. I do want him to face it. He used to work in prison, he was a guard. He wants to turn the whole country into a prison. But it won't happen. It's just the opposite.

- Do you think a court and tribunal is inevitable if he fails to leave right now?

- A tribunal is inevitable. There will be many witnesses because of COVID and this cynical policy line.

There have been attempts to sue him for the deaths of people during the epidemic.

People, don't be afraid to speak out. Everything depends only on us, Belarusians. We can show this government what we want, how many people can join the protest to prevent election fraud. It will determine the future of our children and grandchildren, the future of Belarus in general.

Do not be afraid! You live one life. Do you want to live it as a slave or a human being? It's time for you to choose. We all want to be respected, but first of all, we must respect ourselves and be ready to act. It incites pride, dignity, respect for ourselves. When you are ready for a deed, you will defend your right to live in a free and independent country.
