Gitanas Nauseda calls not to launch the BelNPP.
President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda published a message in Belarusian on Twitter. The post is about the forthcoming launch of the BelNPP. The message was published on Facebook in Lithuanian.
Nauseda writes that the Belarusians have suffered from the Chernobyl accident, so he calls on the authorities not to launch the BelNPP. According to the Lithuanian side, the station does not meet the requirements of the EU stress tests. President of Lithuania calls not to put the residents of Belarus and neighboring countries at risk. He also notes that the Kruonis Pumped Storage Plant will not be used for the needs of the BelNPP.

The BelNPP in Astravets is being built upon the Russian project. Russia has also issued an export credit of up to $10 billion for the construction. From the very beginning Lithuania was against the construction of the plant, believing that it could threaten the safety of its citizens. The physical launch of the BelNPP is scheduled for July this year.
