Siarhei Satsuk’s Case Submitted to the Investigative Committee
Siarhei Satsuk

On the eve, the European Parliament demanded to immediately release the editor-in-chief of Ejednevnik.

The criminal case of Siarhei Satsuk, the editor-in-chief of Ejednevnik, was submitted to the Investigative Committee, reports naviny.by.

Official representative of the Department of Financial Investigations of the State Control Committee, Yury Kardymon, informed BelaPAN that the IC will decide on charges after the assessment of the case materials.

Siarhei Satsuk was detained by representatives of the DFI SCC on March 25 near Minsk at about 16.00, when he and his wife arrived at the construction store.

Later it became known that Satsuk was prosecuted under Part 2, Article 430 of the Criminal Code (repeated bribery through extortion or in collusion with a group of people, or large-scale bribery).

After interrogation, the journalist was placed in a temporary detention centre on Akrestsina Street.

The day before, the office was searched. DFI officers seized the documentation.

At present, the journalist is in Minsk pre-trial detention centre No.1 on Valadarskaha Street.

Relatives and colleagues of Satsuk relate the detention to his professional activities. The day before, Euroradio published a letter. Siarhei Satsuk asked to make public in case of his detention.

The State Control Committee still refuses to comment on the case.

The delegation of the European Parliament on relations with Belarus demanded an immediate release of Siarhei Satsuk.
