Exports Of Oil Products From Belarus Decreased By Almost 70%

A particularly noticeable collapse has occurred in the west direction.

According to the National Statistical Committee, in January this year the export of oil products amounted to 305.5 thousand tons, while in January last year it was 1006.3 thousand tons, Radio Svaboda reports.

The current January oil products export amounted to only 30.4% of the oil products export in January 2019 - a decrease of almost 70%.

The decline in price was less significant, but also considerable - in January 2020, the cost of exported petroleum products decreased by 62.3% compared to January 2019.

The export of oil products from Belarus in the western direction was especially significant: only 16% of last year's volumes were sold to the EU in January 2020, and 20% of last year's volumes to Poland and the UK. This year, only 6.7% of the volumes sold in January 2019 were sold to the Netherlands (formerly one of the main importers of Belarusian oil products).

The decline in exports of petroleum products amounted to about a three-fold decrease in crude oil imports in January 2020 compared to January 2019.
