Alena Yanushkouskaya: This Is Our Motherland And Who Else Will Defend It?
ALENA YANUSHKOUSKAYA

The Vitsebsk activist has described her participation in the struggle for independence.

Alena Yanushkouskaya was fined for "independence" for the sixth time. All six fines were for participation, or for calls to come to rallies in support of independence of Belarus. The rallies were held in December last year in Vitsebsk, as well. the Vitsebsk blogger and the activist had posted in social networks announcements about each of them, Radio Racyja reports.

Alena Yanushkouskaya does not regret what she was doing: "I have groups on Facebook, VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, and I posted them everywhere. I also reposted in all the groups where I am registered. I believe that all Belarusians should do this. After all, this is our homeland, and who else will defend it".

Judge Mikhail Zubenia did not take into account that the blogger had just been discharged from hospital after a difficult operation, and that she is unemployed, because she can't get a job anywhere because of her poor health.

However, Alena Yanushkouskaya did not wait for the verdict: she left the room, as the previous 5 fines convinced her of injustice in the court.

Everyone who came to support her followed, Iryna Zakharava says: "This is not a people's court, it does not protect the rights of people, but only Lukashenka. Alena went out, and we followed her, as we believe that it was an unfair, unjust trial. And we showed our attitude to the court".

The total amount of Alena Yanushkouskaya's fines is 175 basic units, which is 4725 rubles. A charitable fundraising campaign has been announced on the Internet to help her pay off the fines imposed for defending independence.
