The authorities may provoke spontaneous strikes at major enterprises.

This week it became known that the Belshina plants are shutting down according to the approved production plan for February. Two plants will not work until February 21, and one more - at least until March 1. The MAZ also introduces permanent downtimes on February 7 and 21, as well as on March 9 and 20.

At both enterprises, workers are forced to write applications to switch to the 2/3 worktime schedule, and stay at home.

Henadz Fiadynich, leader of the independent trade union REP, commented on the situation with the Belarusian large enterprises to the Charter97.org news website:

- Firstly, this means that enterprises have a catastrophic lack of funds. Secondly, they were in debt, in all likelihood, because they took loans from banks. And thirdly, it is the inability to fully realize the products that they market. For it is either not competitive in price, or not competitive in quality.

In my opinion, this is only the beginning. They explain this by the ordinary scheduled maintenance of equipment, but the question is more serious. State-owned enterprises of this magnitude are not effective today; they have long had to be implemented as separate plants, and new technologies should have been introduced there. But they all work in the same old way. And this is what they have come to.

I feel sorry for those workers. Someone is forced to write vacation applications voluntarily. According to the law, this is a payment of 2/3 of the tariffs, and this is a meager compared to wages. No one thinks how people will live. Therefore, it will be an extremely difficult situation at all enterprises of the public sector, without exception.

I think that this may come to the elementary indignation of the workers, because they need to eat somehow, pay utility bills, raise their children - all this will primarily affect the family budget. I admit that there will be spontaneous strikes at the enterprises.
