The Munich Identity For Ukraine

The Munich Identity For Ukraine
Andrei Sannikov

Two points appear notable here.

There is such an international security conference, held in Munich every year. I believe it to be the most representative realpolitik forum in the world. It became such under the leadership of Wolfgang Ischinger, a German diplomat and politician, known for his sympathies for the Kremlin, and smaller dictatorships as well. He took his people to Lukashenka for a couple of years, to discuss how it was possible to help the illegitimate ruler of Belarus.

The Munich Conference enjoys the well-deserved reputation of a must-attend event in the circles of the world political elite. Indeed, it brings together the most influential politicians from both continents - Europe and America, with the involvement of other regions, if necessary. World leaders accurately put Munich on their February calendars. It happens mostly by inertia, out of respect for Germany, the biggest European player, rather than due to the importance of the forum for the democratic world. Meanwhile, Ischinger & team diligently adjust the agenda and accompanying events to the whims of the Kremlin customer.

For example, this year, the “Primak Readings” were held in the framework of the Munich Security Conference. During the mentioned event, Russia’s Foreign Minister Lavrov voiced the initiatives of Putin, namely, on the convocation of the forum of permanent members of the UN Security Council, which reminds of another “Yalta” very much.

Just imagine, the readings named after the functionary of the Soviet special services, known for his activity in the Middle East, are held in the capital of Bayern.

Once again: Munich hosts an event named after the best friend of Arab terrorists, the sponsor of the “Palestinian nation” concept.

Oh, right, everyone seems to have forgotten that, back in 1972, during the Munich Olympics, 11 athletes of the Israeli national team died in a terrorist attack, committed by Palestinians. These are the days that passed by.

However, it is unlikely that anyone forgot that it was in Munich in 2007, when the father of the future Russian Constitution Vladimir Putin publicly announced his plans of revenge on the West for the defeat in the “cold war”. What was the West’s answer in Munich then? The red carpet for the Kremlin.

That is why the appearance of the plan called “Twelve Steps to Strengthen Security in Ukraine and the European Atlantic Region” under the aegis of the Munich Security Conference and its Chairperson was no surprise.

This plan should have been named differently - “We Don’t Give a Damn about Ukraine”.

The fact that is has been deleted from the conference’s website doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. The dump has been made, the discussion has been started.

I know about a third of the “strategists” who made this plan, and I have no respect for them. Some are known for their negative impact on Belarus as well. I am not even talking about the Russian participants - everything is clear about them.

Two points of this plan appear to be notable.

The first one is related to the creation of the free trade zone in the Donbas. This is a very attractive lure to support corruption in Ukraine. Imagine the sums they will be able to siphon off without any control, under the cover of internationally noble activity together with the Western participants!

And the second point clarified a lot in the mean strategy with regard to not only Ukraine, but also Belarus.

It is called “The Launch of the New National Dialogue on Identity”.

Here, reproaches immediately surfaced, which have been showering upon us in a suspiciously well-organized way. Like, all of your troubles, Belarusians, come from your weak identity, and until this identity grows strong, nothing good will happen in your country. Wise men and decent ladies are talking about this seriously, thus covering up for the friendship of their democratically elected governments with the usurper.

It is especially rejoicing to hear the statements and read the writings about our weak identity, authored by respected analysts from the European countries where they still cannot cross identity with multi-cultural environment, or from the American states, where they prefer not to touch this politically incorrect issue.

As for me, there is only one country that has problems with identity. It neighbors with Belarus and Ukraine. I am speaking about Russia.

Because, the Russian identity simply cannot include the identities of the Bashkirs, Kalmucks, Tatars, Chechens, Siberians, Yakuts etc. The dying, formerly dominant nation just cannot let it happen. That is why Russia has only one basis identity concept - the imperial one. They are building their identity on this: on the forced subordinance to the imperial perceptions of their country and the rest of the world.

And there, everything is mixed up: the Rurik dynasty with the murdered Romanovs, the “Red Army is the strongest”, the White Sea Canal, the Baikal-Amur Mainline, the Kremlin bordering with the execution and proclamation spot, the Crimea-is-ours with Tsushima, under some reason, and Boshirov & Petrov.

So they want to send Ukraine to the same identity, in accordance with the Munich plan.

Meanwhile, it is very easy to understand self-identity of Ukrainians: you just have to recall how the students of the Nakhimov naval college sang the national anthem of Ukraine in the Crimea, occupied by the Russians.

In order to understand self-identity of Belarusians, you just need to recall the reburial of the Belarusian national heroes, the participants of the Kastus Kalinouski uprising.

In order to understand self-identity of both Ukrainians and Belarusians, you may recall that the song “Warriors of Light” authored by Belarusian Siarhei Mikhalok became the hymn of the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine. Besides, the song is in the Russian language.

Well, if that is not enough, then Kharkiv football fans will gladly help the Munich Conference to place the geopolitical accents correctly.
