Half Of Belarusian Drivers Boycott Technical Inspection

Beltechdahliad asks the authorities to untie the "road tax" from the inspection as soon as possible.

Beltechdahliad is interested in untying the state toll for permission to allow the vehicle to participate in road traffic from the procedure of technical inspection and supports the idea of splitting the payments. This has been stated by the company's director Yury Liancheuski.

According to him, the introduction of this duty has seriously undermined the work of the state inspection system, Interfax-West reports.

Liancheuski notes that the number of inspections is reduced annually. According to the company, up to 50% of cars, driven in Belarus, have not passed the technical inspection in time.

"The inspection and issuing a permit are two different procedures that are simply carried out in one place, at a service station. However, they are perceived as something single within the existing system. The result is a negative impact on road safety because a huge number of drivers do not pass technical inspection in time," - the head of the company says.

In this regard, Beltechdahliad wants to "separate these two procedures".

However, according to Liancheuski, "neither the tax office nor the insurers want to take on additional functions, everyone finds arguments against it. And it's been 6 years now that the technical inspection is essentially driven into a deadlock".
