What Is Tsikhanouskaya's Statement Intended For?

The regime is staggering, but a thoughtful plan of action is needed.

In our country, after three months of bloody violence in society, in addition to horror and indignation, a demand for an adequate response to punishers begins to ripen as the only possible form of the triumph of justice. Hopes for a fair investigation of crimes by law enforcement agencies disappeared as everyone realized that these structures unequivocally side with the dictator and protect only him from the outraged people.

After the murder of Raman Bandarenka, which caused a huge public outcry, society rightly expects an immediate reaction from Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and the structures that are part of her immediate environment. The statement on the tribunal of the security forces released yesterday caused bewilderment among many.

What is this statement for? Suppose to stop repression by punitive forces. But today, this statement alone is not enough. This could have had an effect in August when the fate of the dictatorship was teetering on the brink. Today the punitive forces are smeared in blood, consolidated around the dictator, and are ready to stand up for him to the last.

Why, of all possible responses to violence, the most poorly implemented, I would say utopian, was chosen? Who and with what forces will carry out the "capture" of criminals in uniform? Untrained people with bare hands? For professionals who understand the specifics, such infantilism causes only a smile and cannot in any way stop the armed punishers.

Suppose we managed to do this, what happens next? Where to isolate or to whom to transfer the criminal? The same system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that runs them?

The people do not have their own chamber-type premises at their disposal. No one will take criminals to their apartment.

It would be logical to immediately announce the formation of detention groups, which will have special training, special equipment, and a mandate.

The question is, why the statement does not mention articles of the Criminal Code that give the right to self-defense? Forming people's squads for self-defense is much more realistic and effective. This would give the protests a new impetus; the fear of reprisals would recede. Such proposals were repeatedly received by the headquarters and remained unanswered.

Why was the date chosen for the mass action on December 20, and not November 20 (protest potential at its peak) or December 10 (human rights day)? Again something to wait for more than a month? To announce a mass rally, it is enough to make a publication in the telegram channels, as has been done so far. Let the investigation of crimes go on their own; why tie them up by December 20 and waste time and protest potential? December 20 is the time when the whole world begins to prepare for the Christmas two-week vacation; it is strange to count on attention to the Belarusian agenda instead of the pre-holiday preparations. Tsikhanouskaya's assistants cannot fail to know this. Well, here is the dessert: December 20 is the official day of the KGB of the Republic of Belarus, is the chosen date such a trolling or a specific congratulation?
