The Economist: Belarus Ranked 150th Out Of 165 Countries In Democracy Index

Bahrain and Iran are next to Belarus in the ranking.

British research organization "The Economist Intelligence Unit" published a fresh "Democracy Index". Belarus finds itself on the 150th place among 165 countries in this index, the website of Belsat TV channel reports.

Belarus ranks 150th among 165 countries in the "Index of Democracy" for 2019. In 2018, we were on the 137th place.

Bahrain and Iran are next to Belarus in the ranking.

In the regional ranking among the 28th Eastern European countries, Belarus is on the 25th place.

"Belarus, Azerbaijan and four countries of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) remain dictatorships, most of whose leaders remain unchanged," - the authors of the study noted.

First places in the ranking are occupied by Norway, Iceland and Sweden.
