Belarus raises tariff on Russian oil

The increase is due to dirty oil coming to Druzhba pipeline.

Belarus raised oil transportation tariffs for Russian oil through its territory, as BelTA informs. Sunday, September 1, it rose by 3.7 percent.

This is part of the compensation for the shortfall in revenue of Gomeltransneft Druzhba (Belarusian operator of the southern branch of the Druzhba Oil Transportation Line) after the incident with the deteriorating quality of Russian oil.

"Reduction of oil transportation in the second quarter of 2019 due to the refusal of oil refineries in Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Hungary to accept it due to the increase in the concentration of organic chlorides in the Russian oil led to a reduction in the projected revenue of Gomeltransneft Druzhba for 2019," - the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of the Republic noted.

The largest accident at the Druzhba pipeline occurred in April this year, it affected all recipients of Russian oil in Europe. They noticed significant excess of organochlorine in crude oil. Because of the pollution, the pipeline had to be stopped, and the amount of compensation to foreign companies is estimated at billions of dollars.
