1.8 kg Of Cocaine Found On Belarusian At Shanghai Airport

He's facing execution.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus monitors the situation with the detained Belarusian in Shanghai. Chinese customs officers found 1.8 kg of cocaine in his luggage, local media reported earlier, tut.by informs.

"A citizen of Belarus was detained on July 31, as our Consulate General in Shanghai was informed, - Deputy Head of Information and Digital Diplomacy Andrei Shupliak said. - Since then we have been seeking a meeting with this man, and on August 20th the Belarusian consul visited him in the pre-trial detention center".

The consul organized a telephone conversation of the detainee with his parents in his homeland, as well as found out about his health condition and the conditions of his detention in the isolator.

"Since then, we've been keeping the situation under control," - the Foreign Ministry added.

Recently, Shanghai Customs reported that a Belarusian was detained at Pudong airport in July. He flew from Zimbabwe to China via Ethiopia, however, he caught attention due to the fact that he was carrying clothes not in season in his luggage: four winter jackets. It turned out that the cotton filler was soaked in the drug (a new smuggling method), and later more than 1.8 kg of cocaine were extracted from the items. The man said he had been asked to transport things for a fee in Moscow, and the next point after Shanghai was Chinese Macau, after which further instructions were expected.

We remind that China has one of the most severe anti-drug laws in the world.
