Poet Liudmila Ardynskaya: I Am Proud That My Ancestors Were Belarusians

Even adults who are not Belarusians by ethnicity, come to her literary evenings.

Liudmila Ardynskaya is a poet and ethnographer of the Sharkaushchyna area, who published about a dozen books of poetry, and is a co-author of several collections of poetry. She is a member of the literary and musical association “Svitanak”, Radio Racyja informs.

She is the author of the lyrics of most of the songs, which are performed in the region and beyond its borders. Thanks to her enthusiasm and creativity, interesting literary events dedicated to the Day of the Belarusian Literacy, famous Belarusian poets and writers are held in the Sharkaushchyna area. The poet, member of the Belarusian Language Society, writes, reads, and speaks Belarusian, because she values her mother tongue, which she has heard from the cradle.

Liudmila Ardynskaya says that although sometimes it may seem sad that people take and read few books in the Belarusian language from libraries, she still believes that the interest in the native language will not decrease, but vice versa - grow:

- I am a member of the Belarusian literary and musical association “Svitanak” in Sharkaushchyna. We organize events in the Belarusian language, and have the support of the authorities in this. When we come to schools, we see the curiosity of children to the Belarusian language, they know and understand it wonderfully. Even adults who are not Belarusians by ethnicity, come with pleasure to our literary evenings, listen to Belarusian poems and songs, and everybody understands the language well.

There must be no other,

And forgetting it makes a great sin.

So I swear to you by the language itself:

That it won’t separate

My foregoers and myself.
