The junior lieutenant and his colleagues have beaten up two residents of Mstsislauye.

Such a sentence was pronounced against former junior lieutenant Mikalai Rayeu, who last year, together with his colleagues, beat up two residents of Mstsislauye. This is a rare sentence for the law enforcer for using violence in the domestic justice system, Belsat reports.

Two trials, loss of evidence, mutual lawsuits - but still it happened. Former junior police lieutenant Mikalai Rayeu, who last year beat up two visitors to the police station, was sentenced to three years in prison and stripped of his title.

The victim, Aliaksei Shviadkou, said:

"I expected that there would be not a criminal term, but a house arrest. Or any other substitute, but it was a criminal term. I am very glad. I think that there will be a check-up in the Mstsislauye police station to assess the performance of the workers, who also took part in the case, as witnesses."

3 years - the shortest possible period of time under Part 3 of Article 426: abuse of authority associated with violence.

The victim claims that the convict is not the only one who participated in beating up him and his friend Mikalai Kupchyn. The other 7 policemen were witnesses in the case:

"I was being held, Kupchyn was being held by two of them, although any of the policemen could have stopped it all. Could have prevented them from beating. Have stopped Rayeu somehow. But nobody did. And no one was punished for it".

However, he does not plan to appeal against the court decision. He said he was satisfied with it.
