Late in the evening of July 3, a tragedy occurred on the bank of Svislach in Minsk. During the launch of the festive fireworks in Victory Park near the stele "Minsk - Hero-City," where a parade to the "Independence Day" took place yesterday, four shells exploded, fireworks were destroyed, and fragments flew in the direction of the people, Radio Svaboda reports.

Ten people were injured and one woman died on the spot, despite the attempts of the medical staff to help her. In addition, windows were smashed out in buildings in different parts of the city.

The investigators are still working on the scene, the fireworks have not been removed yet.

A criminal case was opened under part 2 of article 463 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus - "violation of the rules of handling substances of high danger".

The Ministry of Defense reports that the explosions occurred in three out of six places in Minsk, where fireworks were held. It is established that the exploded products have the same caliber. According to the agency, the explosions were probably caused by low-quality charges.

It is known that the charges that were used during the fireworks on July 3 were made in Russia. They are supplied by the Piro-Ross company. According to the company representative, they supplied Minsk with charges from the 2017 batch. The company's representatives are already in Minsk.

Spokesman for the Defense Ministry of Belarus Uladzimir Makarau said to Radio Svaboda that the military hadn't been harmed during the explosions of firing units.
