Administrative-Territorial Division Of Belarus May Change

The changes may be introduced after the national census.

The administrative-territorial division of Belarus may be revised after the population census. It was stated by Minister of Economy Dzmitry Krutoi to journalists today, BelTA informs.

"Since last year, the topic of our regional development has been seriously discussed in the country. "Parliamentarians" have received a task, so far preliminary, to look into the administrative and territorial division of the country, which was last registered in the 1960s, and today, taking into account the development, urbanization, demography, migration, naturally, needs some adjustments. Here, first of all, we are waiting for the results of the population census, which will take place at the end of the year," - Dzmitry Krutoi stated.

As for the regional development, "special attention" will be paid to cities with population over 80 thousand people.
